'The
Christening' is an utterly charming painting to me, from the plump
peasant woman joyously pouring water onto herself, to the play of
colors, which seemed to know where to go to help define this image, all
by themselves. I see this painting as speaking to the self-christening we all do in the end, when we're finally through accepting the dogma or opinion of any outside authority, and with what may seem to be reckless abandonment, begin to only listen to within. It's a happy moment, a joyous and relieving moment when you realize you carry WITHIN YOU everything you need to know. You do, you know. Do you know this? If not, perhaps you should look into it. What you seek is within you. Peace- unASLEEP Click here objects appearing in painting. |
