Try to tell a blind community

about illumination

Try to convince them

of it's value

Try to explain colors

they cannot see -

They'll think you're mad.

Hum a tune for the deaf

all day long, if you like

They'll still fail to hear you

and swear you merely look odd doing that

and are to be pitied

or feared.

Try to tell a religious group

there really is no hell

And watch their anger spread

like a forest fire

Knowing as they try to stone you,

they think

they must kill you

In order to protect the honor

of their God.

Some God, I say,

if you must do the protecting

by stoning little old me.
